Suzuki String Program – Guitar & Strings

Fort Worth After School Music Academy (FWASMA)

“Every child can learn—and every voice matters.”

The Fort Worth After School Music Academy proudly offers a Suzuki-based string program for violin, viola, cello, and classical guitar, open to students ages 8 through adult. Grounded in the time-tested Suzuki Method, our curriculum cultivates technical skill, musical sensitivity, and joyful expression in a welcoming and inclusive community setting.

At FWASMA, we believe that music education should be accessible, affirming, and transformative. The Suzuki approach aligns beautifully with our mission by teaching music the way we learn language—through listening, repetition, encouragement, and community. Students learn to play by ear before progressing to note reading, allowing confidence and creativity to develop naturally.

“The goal is not to create great musicians—it’s to create noble hearts and strong character through music.”

—Dr. Shinichi Suzuki

 Program Highlights:

  •  Repertoire-based learning using the official Suzuki books and recordings
  •  Classical guitar and orchestral strings instruction available
  •  Group classes for ensemble playing and peer collaboration
  •  Focus on tone, posture, ear training, and expressive playing
  •  Performance opportunities through recitals and community showcases
